As the creator and host of Over the Lege (OTL), I’m excited to reach out to you today. OTL – the number one, and some say only, political satire show based solely on the Texas Legislature – returns for its fourth installment this September at the Long Center’s Rollins Theatre.
It is hard to believe that what was just an idea scribbled in the margins of notes taken during the 2013 legislative session is now a recurring theatrical show that people count on for some comic relief from Texas politics.
Can we count on you to make Over the Lege Part 4: The House Awakens the most successful performance to date by sponsoring the show?
OTL started as a self-funded show, which explains why we had people standing in as lamps and other people using aluminum foil as costumes. In 2018 we were fortunate to receive a grant from the City of Austin and non-profit status through the Austin Creative Alliance so we could perform in the Long Center and reach a wider audience.
We want to continue raising the bar each year for the show, and that’s why we need your help. Your contribution helps us with advertising, stage rental, costumes, and (fingers crossed) lighting.
OTL is special to me. It is my public service, my yard sign, my blockwalk, and my thirty-second TV ad shining a light on civic participation in Texas and inspiring more Texans to get involved. I think it’s working. And it will be even more successful with your help.
There are many sponsorship levels and benefits to choose from. I hope you’ll consider the Representative Level or higher. If you can’t use all your tickets, we’ll share them with students and others who would not be able to come to the show otherwise.
Thank you for your consideration. Your early support of Over the Lege Part 4: The House Awakens will ensure a professional and enlightening experience for all our attendees.
If you have any questions, please contact me at overthelegetx@gmail.com or 512-763-2298.
You may make your pledge here and we’ll follow up with payment options. Thank you again for your support of Over the Lege Part 4: The House Awakens!
Show dates are September 20-29th on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m.
Respectfully,
